International Student Programme

Recent Exchange Trips

Mount Gambier High School values and celebrates diversity. We acknowledge that we have much to learn from other cultures and that our own sense of culture will be enriched from the exchange experience. We also welcome the opportunity to share our culture with others and further develop our international relationships.

We believe that today’s education must give students a diverse global perspective to enrich their learning and prepare them for living and employment opportunities in the global workforce. International education should be the norm, not the exception. Students should be exposed to as many enriching learning experiences as possible in overseas countries.

The Mount Gambier High School exchange Programme has been ongoing since 2004 when Govan High School students travelled to Mount Gambier High School as part of an educational and cultural exchange.

Since that time additional sister school relationships have been developed with schools in Italy, Japan and England. This was part of the strategy to implement and develop a comprehensive international programme.

Regular biannual trips to and from our sister schools have been held since that time with students actively engaged in educational and cultural experiences. These trips and experiences have been invaluable in broadening the horizons and expanding the friendship circles of Mount Gambier High School students and families.

Extensive work has continued at Mount Gambier High School to facilitate an exchange programme that brings students from other countries to the school and offer them full time exposure to a variety of programmes. Mount Gambier High School has hosted students from America, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sweden and Finland.

As our International programme continues to develop and improve, future plans will be consolidated with the hope that students at Mount Gambier High School, as well as our visitors, gain a global experience.
