Course Summary

Contemporary Music allows students to develop the skills learnt during the introductory Year 8 course whilst starting to gain a more specific knowledge. Learning will take place in three areas of music. Arts Practice is where students will build upon practical knowledge gained in Year 8, playing music both individually and as an ensemble. Arts Analysis and Response involves further examination of the fundamentals of music theory and musical styles. Arts in Context is where students will look at music and the role of music in our lives. Students will be asked to focus on an instrument as negotiated with the teacher. Please note: The school has limited access to instrumental teachers. Only students who are undertaking Music as a subject at MGHS, will be given access to these lessons.
