Background: Stage 1 Psychology recommended but not essential.

Psychology is the study of human behaviour. This course involves the study of Social Cognition (our perceptions of people, and attitudes), Personality (theories and assessment of personality), Learning (reinforcement, punishment and learning by observation), Altered States of Awareness (arousal, stress and sleep), and Healthy Minds (emotional and social wellbeing, risk and protective factors for mental health problems - particularly stress and anxiety - and improving coping and resilience).

In each topic there is a focus on understanding everyday experiences, and on the application of these principles to social problems (criminal behaviour, mental health, prejudice) and personal growth (interpersonal communication, stress management).
