Mount Gambier High school offers language studies in Japanese and Italian, a Languages for Industry VET program (Italian), and sister schools in Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom involving a very strong international student exchange program.

At Mount Gambier High School we believe that learning any language – whether it's Italian or Japanese helps students to become better thinkers, better communicators and better global citizens. Starting to learn a language in Year 8 will put your student on-track to proficiency in another language, ready to seize the world of opportunities that this brings.

In our language classes we teach students how to interact with speakers of other language, this means that our students are less likely to be stuck in one mode of thinking. It can help students see things from a range of perspectives, develop their problem-solving skills, and make them more adaptable, resourceful and creative.
