Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

At Mount Gambier High School, we are committed to providing a high-quality ICT environment that supports modern teaching practices and diverse learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that students have the tools and resources they need to enrich their learning experiences.

Upon enrolment, each student receives a school-supplied device, which remains the property of the school (on behalf of the Minister of Education). These devices come pre-installed with all necessary school software licenses, so families incur no additional cost for software.

All students have access to the Mount Gambier High School network, which includes computers, printers, and a variety of other ICT resources. Access is granted once an Acceptable Use Agreement has been signed by both the student and their parent/caregiver. This agreement outlines the responsibilities and expectations for using any ICT device or resource at the school.

Through this agreement, students are provided with:

  • Internet access, with usage monitored and filtered through the Department for Education’s internet filtering system
  • Printing facilities
  • An individual school email account

ICT Support

ICT support can be accessed from the ICT Office in the Collaborative Learning Centre during the following times:

  • Before school
  • Recess and Lunch Breaks
  • During the first 15mins of each lesson
  • After school until 4.00pm

Students are encouraged to visit the office during their own time for non-urgent issues. For urgent issues that arise during lessons, a written note from a teacher is required. Non-urgent matters will be redirected, and students will be asked to return during a recess or lunch break.

Transition to ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD)

From the beginning of Semester 2 each year, Year 10 students have the option to purchase a new device through a school-endorsed, independent IT provider via an online Order Portal. This “Bring Your Own Device” option ensures students have the technology they need for the final two years of their education at Mount Gambier High School.
