SACE
South Australian Certificate of Education
The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is a modern, internationally recognised secondary school qualification designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and personal capabilities needed to succeed in a rapidly changing global society.
What is SACE?

- A qualification for entry into universities and further training that is recognised nationally and internationally.
- The SACE is flexible, and caters for learning both in and outside school.
- Students can combine study and part-time work, a traineeship or school-based apprenticeship.
- Students can receive credit for SACE subjects, Flexible Industry Programs (FIPs), community learning, and university studies.
SACE Requirements

- Students need 200 credits to achieve the SACE of which at least 70 must be at Stage 2.
- Most 10 credit subjects are studied over one semester and most 20 credit subjects are studied over two semesters.
- Students need to achieve a C grade or higher for Stage 1 requirements and a C- grade or higher for Stage 2 requirements to achieve the SACE.
Compulsory Elements of SACE

- Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) at Stage 1 (undertaken in Year 10), worth 10 credits
- At least 20 credits towards literacy from a range of English/English as an Additional Language Studies
- At least 10 credits towards numeracy from a range of Mathematics studies
- Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) – an in-depth major project, accredited at Stage 2 (undertaken in Year 11), worth 10 credits
- Completion of at least 60 additional credits in Stage 2 subjects and courses
