On Wednesday 18 March, approximately 70 students proudly represented Mount Gambier High School at the Interschool Athletics Carnival, hosted by Grant High School.

The day was filled with outstanding performances as our students competed in 124 events, placing in the top three in 43 events. MGHS athletes brought home 10 first places, 16 seconds, and 17 thirds—an incredible result!

Overall, MGHS placed 4th and earned the (unofficial) title of Best Public School in Mount Gambier. This achievement reflects not only the talent but also the hard work and commitment of every student who attended, both during the event and throughout the lead-up, when many dedicated their lunchtimes and after school hours to training and improving their performances.

Events like this showcase the fantastic school spirit and culture we are building at MGHS. We are exceptionally proud of how our students supported each other and represented the school with such positive attitudes on the day!

A sincere thank you to the staff who supported our students’ participation and showed great flexibility. Special thanks as well to Josh Pearce, Steph Wighton, and Kerran Wingard for their vital roles and assistance in making the day such a success.

Our focus now turns to the Track and Field Championships in Adelaide on Tuesday 31 March (Week 10). The newly announced squad will meet in the gym at lunchtime on Monday for a briefing, with the team list to be provided over the weekend.

Congratulations to everyone involved and good luck to our athletes heading to Adelaide!
