The governing council is the peak decision and policy-making organisation for all matters relating to Mount Gambier High School.

It is an opportunity for parents, staff, students and community representatives to engage in a number of important functions including:

  • planning the school’s strategic directions and priorities

  • reviewing policies

  • contributing to decisions that directly affect students’ secondary school experience

  • ensuring school resources support priorities of the school and improve learning outcomes

  • supporting school initiatives and activities

  • enabling consultation with the school community on the priorities of the school

Involvement on the governing council includes attendance at meetings twice per term, currently held on Monday evenings at 6.00pm.

Previous members have reported that they enjoy being on governing council because:

• You get to have your say

• You hear what other people think

• You become well informed about what is happening

• You get to know other parents

• You get to understand how the school works

• You learn how things “fit together” at school.

Our sincere thanks go to our current governing council members, whose time and commitment to this important group is both appreciated and valued.
