Week 6 | Term 1 2026
Twilight Tours for 2027 Enrolment
We are pleased to invite prospective families of current Year 6 students to our annual Twilight Tours on Wednesday, 18 March. Tours begin at 5.00pm and 6.00pm, offering families an opportunity to visit our learning areas, meet the Leadership Team, and attend presentations highlighting our curriculum specialities. We look forward to welcoming new families and sharing what makes Mount Gambier High School an excellent choice for secondary education.
Student Free Day: Focus on Pedagogical Practice
Our upcoming Student Free Day, scheduled for Tuesday, 10 March, has been carefully planned to provide our teachers with dedicated time for professional learning and development. Throughout the day, staff will work collaboratively to reflect on and strengthen their pedagogical approaches, assessment strategies, and the accessibility of learning tasks for all students. This focused professional development enables our teachers to design high-quality resources and implement practices that support the individual learning needs of every student. At Mount Gambier High School, we remain committed to delivering exemplary teaching and fostering the ongoing success of all learners.

NAPLAN 2026
I Weeks 7, and Monday of Week 8 our Year 7 and 9 students will participate in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy). These assessments provide useful insights for teachers and parents regarding each student’s literacy and numeracy progression. We encourage all students to participate and try their best.
DIBELS Literacy Testing
To further support student learning, we have completed DIBELS testing for all Year 7 and 8 students, evaluating their reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. This data supports tailored teaching and helps ensure students receive appropriate literacy intervention or extension across all learning areas.
School Sport
Interhouse Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Tower for their remarkable achievement – winning the Ian Gould Interhouse Athletics Carnival Shield for the sixth year in a row! Students from all year levels participated enthusiastically in a wide range of events, often challenging themselves outside their comfort zones. It was wonderful to see such high levels of participation and house spirit, particularly from our youngest male and female age groups.
We look forward to our selected athletes representing Mount Gambier High School at the Interschool Athletics Carnival on Wednesday, 18 March (Week 8).
Interhouse Swimming Carnival
A huge congratulations to Gambier for winning the P.M. Cutbush Interhouse Swimming Carnival Shield. Those in attendance gave the variety of events go, with many students trying new events, supporting each other, and embracing both the competitive and novelty events with great team spirit.
Interschool Swimming Carnival
In Week 3, our students, many of whom were new to competitive swimming, performed admirably and represented our school with pride and sportsmanship at the Interschool Swimming Carnival at Wulanda.
Emergency Procedures: Lockdowns and Evacuations
At Mount Gambier High School, the safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. In the event of a lockdown or evacuation, we follow established emergency procedures to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on site. These measures are designed to support the safety of all, and we notify parents/caregivers as soon as possible when it is safe to do so.
During such situations, staff must focus on essential emergency tasks. To assist us, we ask parents and caregivers not to call the school during a lockdown or evacuation, as phone lines need to remain available for critical communication. We understand your concern for your child(ren)’s safety and appreciate your patience as we manage the situation. In such emergency situations, updates will be provided at the earliest opportunity.
EdSmart Payment Process
We are pleased to announce that we have now transitioned to the EdSmart payment system, enabling families to provide both consent and payment for camps and excursions directly from within the EdSmart consent form. We encourage all families to regularly check their emails for excursion information and school broadcasts.
If you require assistance with any aspect of the EdSmart process, please contact the Student Office between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Our staff are available to support you and ensure a smooth transition to this new system.
