Congratulations to Tower House—our 2026 Interhouse Athletics Carnival Champions, taking home the cup for an incredible sixth year running!

What a fantastic Week 5 carnival it was! The energy, friendly competition, and house spirit across two huge days were simply outstanding. Students gave their all—whether competing, supporting, or cheering on their housemates—and the results speak for themselves.

Final House Championship Results:
🏆 1st – Tower: 1790.5 points
🥈 2nd – Lake: 1710 points
🥉 3rd – Mount: 1495.5 points
🎽 4th – Gambier: 1441 points

Special Trophy Winners:
🏅 Craig Elliott Perpetual Trophy for Outstanding Athletic Performance:
Isla Stuckey (Lake), with a record-setting 200m run (13 Yr Girls) in 29.06 seconds.

🏅 New Event Records:
Congratulations to Isla Stuckey (Lake) and Gracie Wingard (Mount) on five impressive new event records!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to every staff member, SSO, and volunteer who contributed to making the event such a success. From stepping in at short notice to officiate, to running, cooking, setting up, and supporting our students in so many ways—your efforts did not go unnoticed. Special appreciation to our PE staff, especially Stephen Day, who took on extra roles to ensure the carnival ran smoothly, even when circumstances were tough.

Big thanks to Mick, Glenn, and Kris for their countless hours preparing the track and oval, and to our amazing Home Ec team for serving up a delicious breakfast to keep everyone going.

Highlights included outstanding individual performances, close house rivalries, and the chance to connect and strengthen relationships outside the classroom. Events like this bring our whole MGHS community together and create memories for all involved.

We’re proud of every student who participated, and grateful for the positive spirit everyone brought to the event. Next week, we’ll be announcing our Interschool Athletics Squad, so stay tuned for those exciting updates!
