On 13th February, MGHS competed in the Interschool Swimming Carnival. Our students did a wonderful job and showed great determination throughout the day. We finished 5th overall, with some fantastic individual results across the team, including several 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
While we may not traditionally be known as a “swimming school,” our students embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. Many nominated themselves for events knowing they would be up against strong competition and that winning was not guaranteed — but they stepped up anyway. Their willingness to have a go, contribute points, and represent the school in every single race was a true reflection of their character.
We had students competing in older age groups, others swimming in up to seven events, and even students who put their hands up at the last minute to ensure we had full teams. This selflessness and team-first mindset ensured MGHS was represented in every race throughout the day.
Although success at interschool events is something we always strive for, days like this remind us that achievement is about more than trophies. It is about courage, commitment, community, and character. Our students demonstrated all of these qualities in abundance, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented MGHS.
