A Strong Start to Statewide Sports

It has been a busy and exciting start to the term, with plenty of Statewide sporting competitions already underway.

Our soccer teams have represented the school proudly across all year levels. The 7/8 Boys team recorded a strong win against Tenison Woods College but went down to St Martins Lutheran College. The Open Boys played a one-off game against Tenison Woods, who proved too strong in the end. The 9/10 team were successful in their first round, defeating Tenison Woods College, and will now progress to play Unity College in Week 6.

Netball has also been a major highlight this term, with our Open, 9/10 and 7/8 teams all taking to the courts. For many of our 7/8 students, it was their first experience representing MGHS, and while results were mixed, they showed fantastic competitiveness and spirit in every game. The Open team had a terrific run, finishing at the top of their pool and reaching the grand final, where they finished runners-up to Millicent High School. Our 9/10 team dominated their local carnival, going through undefeated, and will now compete at the Statewide Division 2 Netball Competition in Week 6.

Our Open Girls Basketball team also enjoyed success, defeating Bordertown in their second round. They now look forward to travelling to Adelaide in Week 9 to compete in the Statewide Open Girls Basketball Competition.

Congratulations to all of our students for their effort, teamwork and sportsmanship across these carnivals. We are excited to see how our teams progress in the next stages of competition!
